How to Use icon

How to use Xiidra

Take Xiidra twice a day, every day–as recommended by your eye doctor. As you adjust to your new eye care routine, set a reminder to apply one drop of Xiidra in each eye, twice a day, approximately 12 hours apart. To help avoid eye injury or contamination of the solution, don't touch the container tip to your eye or any surface.

How to Use icon

Single-use containers

Xiidra comes in single-use containers–enough for 30 or 90 days, depending on your prescription. Each container holds enough medicine to treat both of your eyes for one application. Once the container is opened, it is important that you apply Xiidra right away. Then throw out the container along with any unused solution. Don't save it for later.

Using Xiidra with contact lenses

If you wear contacts, remove them before using Xiidra. Then wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back in.

Possible side effects

The most common side effects of Xiidra include:

  • Eye irritation
  • Discomfort or blurred vision when the drops are applied to the eyes
  • An unusual taste sensation

Seek medical care immediately if you get any symptoms of wheezing, difficulty breathing, or swollen tongue. These are not all the possible side effects of Xiidra. Tell your doctor if you have any side effects that bother you.

FOLLOW TREATMENT AS RECOMMENDED BY YOUR EYE DOCTOR

It's important to know that Xiidra can take time to work, and it may take some time for you to see symptom relief.

In clinical trials, Xiidra was shown to, on average, reduce symptoms of eye dryness in as little as 2 weeks in 2 out of 4 studies, for some patients with improvements observed at 6 and 12 weeks in all 4 studies, with continued twice‐daily use.

Dry eye disease is considered chronic and may be progressive. Be sure to use Xiidra as directed by your doctor—and discuss any questions with them.
